I have been to Mykonos and the Greek islands many times but after the pause on travel over the last few years for me , heading back to Mykonos was a must, the sunshine, food and chance to unwind in what feels like home in the sun.
Myconian Kyma design hotel just outside the town of Mykonos was home for the 10day trip back to GreeceThe white buildings in front of the beautiful blue sky and the sound of water from the pool felt calm and signalled that the holiday had started.
I never count the first day with travel, transfers and unpacking, it’s once I’ve had my first nights sleep, explored a bit and had breakfast that the relaxing and peace can start.
Day one was always going to be taking advantage of the pools and sun loungers and once breakfast had been taken that is where I stayed, dipping in and out of the pool, reading a book and listening to music. After 2 and half years without a real break, I was going to make the most of doing very little for at least a few days.
I did check out the fitness centre but have decide a short morning run in the sun would be better but not going to push it too much as slowing down is the purpose of the trip. A 2km jog around the outskirts of town , up and down the hills is enough to wake me up and start the day, especially in 24degree heat.
The break was just what I needed and most of it consisted of relaxing by the pool during the day and dinner and drinks in town each evening. We did do a trip to Tinos and to the local beach - separate posts about that can be found in my blog- but other than that the goal for me was to recharge my batteries and enjoy the Greek hospitality, food and sunshine.
The Kyma hotel was perfect for a break and the staff and facilities were fantastic- highly recommended and photos of the hotel are included.
Photos below are from walks around the town and capture the beauty of Mykonos… it’s a tranquil island during the day and bustling at night - I’m sure it’s busier during the height of summer and possibly could be too much for some people but the end of September has the weather and is a lot calmer , no issue getting a table for drinks or dinner and the town isn’t over crowded.
For me Greece is the perfect getaway and I always return home relaxed, rested and full of delightful Greek food… I can’t wait to get back and explore another island soon
